Sports George finishes in third Cougar Sports Services The Cougars didnit place first in any events at the Texas Relays in Austin, but they did continue to establish their place as one of the countryis elite programs.
Sophomore Daniel Patton finished the pole vault in sixth place at the Texas Relays in Austin. Patton had a season-best jump of 16 feet, 4 3/4 inches. Pin Lim/The Daily Cougar Sophomore Ashley George finished the womenis long jump in third place with her outdoor-season best jump of 19 feet, 7 inches. Senior Robert Foster placed fourth during the preliminaries of the menis 100-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 10.28 seconds. He also ran the anchor leg of the menis 4-by-100-meter relay. The team recorded the fastest time of the preliminaries, finishing in 39.89 seconds. Sophomore Daniel Patton was the top UH pole-vaulter at the meet. He finished in sixth place with his season-best leap of 16 feet, 4 3/4 inches. It was just six inches behind Washington Stateis first-place mark of 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches. Sophomore Nichole Brundage placed eighth in the womenis high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches. It was less than four inches behind Texas A&Mis Robyn Burkhardtis first-place jump. Senior Jason Edwards finished the menis long jump with a wind-aided 23 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Junior Brandon Bray finished just two and one-half inches behind Edwards. The Lady Cougars qualified for the womenis 4-by-100-meter relay finals with a preliminary time of 44.81 seconds. They made it to the 4-by-400-meter relay finals with a time of 3:34.76 seconds.
