News Author to discuss rich, poor Cougar News Services Best-selling author and political analyst Kevin Phillips comes to UH today to expound upon the role of wealth and power throughout United Statesi history and how those forces have forged an increasingly wide gap between Americais rich and poor. His lecture, to be presented at 6:30 p.m. in the University Hiltonis Waldorf Astoria Ballroom, is brought to UH as the Graduate School of Social Workis eighth annual Underwood Lecture. The lecture is also sponsored by the graduate schoolis American Humanics program. Phillipsi works have been said to impact presidential campaigns and alter the way American society perceives itself. His most recent book, Wealth and Democracy, traces the role of wealth in American politics, starting with the birth of the nation during the American Revolution. The lecture is free and open to the public.
