Sports Cougars play a pair vs. Third Ward rivals Cougar Sports Services If the same tough-talking softball team thatis won 31 games shows up for a doubleheader today against Texas Southern, itill probably be looking at the Tigers as fodder. But it may also take some quick glances at the sky. Todayis doubleheader at the Cougar Softball Complex was originally scheduled for 5 p.m., but was moved up to 3 p.m. to avoid potential rain showers. Sweeping the intra-Third Ward rivals would do wonders for a Cougar team preparing to close out the regular season with consecutive series against Conference USA teams. The Cougars (31-18, 13-5 in C-USA) are coming off a 10-2 win at East Carolina that clinched a 2-1 series win. Theyire 6-1 over their last seven games and are 16-7 at home. The last time the Cougars played a team from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the hitters exploded for 21 runs against Alabama A&M. UH next goes on the road to face Louisville in a three-game series beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. Send comments to dcsports@mail.uh.edu |
