UH
Design/Build Studio steps up for the kids
Hoping to score a home run for community service, first
year graduate students at the UH Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture
have accepted the challenge to create a "Structure for Storing and Scoring"
as part of their Graduate Design/Build Studio.
Tech
college should stay as it is
One of the founding missions of the University was to
provide an avenue of higher education for " ... all the citizens of Houston."
The College of Technology has always been key to satisfying this original
mandate.
New
blood pumps All-Star Game
It didn't end in a tie, so baseball commissioner Bud
Selig must consider the American League's 7-6 win over the National League
on Tuesday a success. Of course, few ever remember the outcome of an All-Star
Game as much as they do the "moments."
Summer's
curse ends with 'Pirates'
This summer has been plagued by one meaningless sequel
after another. Fortunately, a flick has sailed along just in time to save
the masses from drowning. Although based on a corny amusement ride in Disneyland,
director Gore Verbinski reinvigorates a dead genre with The Pirates of
the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The movie is both engaging
and charming even though it runs a little on the lengthy side --135 minutes
to be exact.
