Sports Volleyball to battle USC on quest to 22 Cougar Sports Services He's not that Bill Walton, but UH volleyball head coach Bill Walton will embark on his own long, strange trip as he tries to lead UH to its 22nd consecutive winning season. UH will kick off the campaign with three road tournaments before heading into Conference USA competition and closing out the regular season against defending National Champion Southern California. The Cougars will begin their campaign for a 22nd consecutive winning season Aug. 29-30 at the Baylor Classic in Waco and will head to Austin for the Longhorn Classic on Sept. 5. Houston will then host Big 12 foe Baylor at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in its home opener at Hofheinz Pavilion. Houston will meet California-Irvine, Florida State and St. Mary's on Sept. 12 in the Sunset Classic in Los Angeles, and battle crosstown rival Rice on Sept. 16 at Autry Court before returning to the friendly confines of Hofheinz. Prior to league play, the Cougars will face the Longhorns on Sept. 26 in Austin and battle Southern Miss and Tulane on the road Oct. 3 and 4, respectively. The 2003 C-USA Volleyball Tournament will be hosted by Tulane on Nov. 21 in New Orleans. The Cougars will return to Los Angeles on Nov. 29 for a final regular season match against USC.
