By Daniel R. Huron

The Daily Cougar

Well, itis about time for winter break again. Itis time to put away the books (unless you never opened them to begin with) and take some time to enjoy all the concerts that are about to hit the town. And donit forget to catch the highly anticipated Guns ‘Ni Roses concert.

For those of you who canit wait for some of the big concerts to come around, this weekend will offer up some splendid choices.

Hard rockers Saliva will play new material from its latest album Saturday when the band performs at Numbers.

The spacey 30 Seconds to Mars will bring its vision to the Engine Room this Friday.

D.R.U.M., ZIN and DJ Moon will wow the crowd at the Last Concert Café on Friday.

Those of you who like country music will have a choice to make. Youill either have to make it to the Continental Club for Hayes Carll and the South Austin Jug Band on Friday, or come back Saturday for Big Sandy and The Cornell Hurd Band.

The Verizon Wireless Theater will present John Prine on Friday.

Flickerstick will perform Saturday at the Engine Room.

After this weekend, the music comes in droves the rest of December.

Robert Earl Keen will be at the Verizon Wireless Theater for two shows. Stop by Dec. 19 and 20.

The big show: Guns ‘Ni Roses come back to Houston for the first time in a long time. Theyill be at the Compaq Center on Dec. 17.

The Toadies will reunite once again Dec. 26 at the Verizon Wireless Theater.

Excited about Guns ‘Ni Roses and The Toadies? Are you ready for Meat Loaf and his friends? Well, two out of three arenit bad. Meat Loaf will be at the Verizon Wireless Theater on Dec. 21.

The Fabulous Satellite Lounge will be gone soon, so be sure to drop by. On Dec. 21 the venue will holding its Christmas party. Itill be a perfect time to visit and say goodbye.

Patrice Pike will perform at the Lounge on Dec. 27. Ian Moore will be there Dec. 28.

Thereis a lot of music out there, so be sure to take a few days on your break to go out and explore what your city has to offer. Have a great holiday, and come back in one piece.
