Sports Cougars compete, take score Saturday Cougar Sports Staff The UH track and field team will look to build on a strong showing at the season-opening Leonard Hilton Memorial meet as it prepares to begin scored competition at the Houston Indoor Opener at the Yeoman Field House on Saturday. The Cougars ran alongside some of sportis best at the Memorial, with Stanford Routt finishing third in the 60-meter dash behind track star Maurice Green. Routt and teammate Robert Foster took the 1 and 2 spots in the menis 200-meter dash. Michael Olague placed second in the menis 5,000 meter run. Milton Manson and Andrew Carruthers placed fifth and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles. Head coach Leroy Burrell is in his fifth year at the helm of the track program. Last year, Burrell guided a team that placed six competitors in the NCAA Womenis Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Saturdayis meet will be the second indoor meet at UH. There will be three more meets at the Field House: the Houston Indoor Invitational on Feb. 8, the All-Comers Meet on Feb. 15 and the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb.28 to March 1.
