What to Watch

By Amber Lanphier

Today

Tonight itis the real deal as the official second season of American Idol kicks off (FOX, 7 p.m.). This is your best bet unless you have cable. At 8 p.m., President Bush will be on every channel known to man when he delivers his State of the Union address. Youill probably need a laugh after that, so check out the new show Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, 11:05 p.m.). Snoop Dogg is the guest co-host.

The maestro of irreverence, Dave Chappelle, is the star of Comedy Centralis new sketch show, Chappelleis Show.

Wednesday

Catch the TV movie that just might become a TV series: War Stories (NBC, 7 p.m.). Jeff Goldblum stars as a sarcastic war correspondent who teams up with a photographer to cover conflict in Central Asia. Donit miss The Bachelorette (ABC, 7:30 p.m.); Trista will have to make a decision because one potential hunk is going home. Check out what may be the funniest program around, Chappelleis Show (Comedy Central, 9:30 p.m.). Comic Dave Chappelle stars in a variety show that parodies pop culture in a hilarious way.

Thursday

Yippee! Friends is on for a full 40 minutes tonight (NBC, 7 p.m.). The gang goes to a piano bar and Monica finds herself on center stage. Ross is feeling low since after Rachel kisses someone else, and Chandler, being the good friend he is, tries to help Joey with his botched eyebrow-waxing job. The Late Show with David Letterman should be quite entertaining when comic Jerry Seinfeld stops by and the Foo Fighters rock out (CBS, 10:35 p.m.).

Friday

Jay Mohr guest stars on a new Fastlane (Fox, 7 p.m.). The crew goes deep undercover to try to find out who is planning the murders-for-hire of Los Angeles cops. The recent epidemic of having babies and then dumping them in the garbage is the focus of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 9 p.m.).

Saturday

Are you ready for this? Former Vice President Al Gore is hosting Saturday Night Live (NBC, 10:30 p.m.). If that isnit crazy enough, the super-cool jam band Phish is performing. Tune in for what should be a great show.

Sunday

This really is the last weekend of the season for football fans. Tune into the Pro Bowl live from Honolulu (ABC, 4:30 p.m.). The all-star game features the best players from the NFC and the AFC. On The Simpsons, Marge gets mugged, which inspires her to become a buff body builder. Donit miss it (FOX, 7 p.m.).

Monday

Itis the all-gross episode on Fear Factor this week (NBC, 7 p.m.). Get this ? contestants have to bob for objects in a bucket of blood, then retrieve skunk carcasses from a trunk in the dark. As if that werenit enough, they have to grub on five-inch worms.
