Sports Cougars may never want to leave Yeoman Field House Cougar Sports Staff If the Cougar track and field team is to be successful during the indoor season, it will want to make the most of opening with four consecutive meets at home. It made a good showing as the menis team took first place and the women finished seventh at the Houston Indoor Open, and it will continue its home-field defense Saturday at the Houston Indoor Classic. The meet begins at 9 a.m. in the Bill Yeoman Field House with field events. Weight throws get things started, followed by the shot put, long jump, triple jump and pole vault, and ending with the high jump. Running events will take up the entire afternoon, with the womenis 5,000-meter beginning at noon. Other running events are: distance medley relay, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, mile run, 400-meter run, 800-meter run, 200-meter run, 3,000-meter run and the four-by-400 relay. There will be qualifying heats in the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdle. Other schools competing in the event are Texas Christian, Rice (womenis team only), Sam Houston, Texas (womenis team only), Texas Southern, Texas-Arlington, Texas-San Antonio (menis team only), Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, South Florida, Tulane and Southern-Baton Rouge.
