German
magic comes to Moores
If you have ever had a morbid
curiosity of wondering what a horror film would look like if the actors
suddenly burst forth into song in German, then now is your chance to find
out. Der Freischütz is a dark and supernatural opera composed
in the early 19th century by Carl Maria von Weber.
Goldberg
offers A&RT, guidance
Many aspiring musicians
took the stage during the day at South by Southwest while others headed
over to the Austin Convention Center to attend forums that would give them
an insight to the industry they vied to break into.
Grohl
twists metal to his own creation
Listen to the Foo Fighters.
It's an overall happy project. One part pop, one part punk, a little grungy,
but not enough to be depressing. It's hard to imagine that the Foo's leader
Dave Grohl's smiling, goofy persona has a dark side, or that he's spent
the last three years working on a project with metalheads that have names
like Tom G. Warrior, Wino and Snake.
Spector
should be released
With the status of celebrity
comes quite a few nice perks: public adoration, free stuff you could easily
afford yourself and of course, getting away with criminal acts. Just look
at the history of rock and movie stars who've had brushes with the law.
O.J. Simpson got away with a double murder, and Robert Downey Jr. has been
given numerous slaps on the wrist for drug offenses.
Cave,
Seeds succeed with 'Murder Ballads'
Nick Cave will always be
cooler than you. After the implosion of ferocious post-punk band the Birthday
Party, Cave moved on to form the Bad Seeds and kick an almost decade long
heroin habit.
