A developing landmark: The new main
entrance of the M.D. Anderson Memorial Library, an integral part of the
library’s 170,000-square-foot expansion, opened during Spring Break. A
three-story lobby joins the existing library building with the new wing,
which is slated for completion this fall.

Penders
tabbed for top job
Former University of Texas
head men's basketball coach Tom Penders spent a lot of time making the
"hook 'em horns" hand sign, with his pinky and index finger pointing up.
Progress
just an illusion
There's a little story about
a little society you hear about while studying culture. It goes a little
something like this: There were egalitarian groups of people coexisting
peacefully because they were the same. As technological advancement began,
however, divided classes emerged. These societies, of course, relied on
each other due to their differences and found unity in this balance.
Pick
up the pace
If you know anything about
Tom Penders, you know that he likes to run. That doesn't mean he's an avid
jogger. It means that throughout his coaching career, his teams have moved
faster than just about any other -- pressing and trapping on defense, running
the fastbreak with abandon on offense.
German
magic comes to Moores
If you have ever had a morbid
curiosity of wondering what a horror film would look like if the actors
suddenly burst forth into song in German, then now is your chance to find
out. Der Freischütz is a dark and supernatural opera composed
in the early 19th century by Carl Maria von Weber.
