Opinion
Letters to the Editor Corrupt committee, neglectful newspaper To the editor: In regard to the Student Government Association runoff election, are we surprised the election commission -- put in place by the current Student Voice Party and dominated by the SGA administration -- lifted its sanctions against Student Voice? I was surprised to see the election commission do anything at all. So I guess this puts things back to normal. Meanwhile, I must protest the Cougar's lack of coverage of one of the world's biggest news stories in the past two days. Over the weekend, Israel managed to finally kill Ahmed Yassin. Yassin was a hero to the Palestinians for orchestrating the killings of hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings. He was the founder of Hamas, an organization with the goal of wiping out Israel and killing as many Jews as possible. Hamas is also responsible for killing many Palestinians, including Yassin's brother Ali, for being "too moderate." The mainstream press has been giving this monster a free pass, describing him as merely a "spiritual leader of Hamas," rather than as a brutal murderer. The Cougar, meanwhile, has neglected this story. Michael Ahlf,
