leaders share ideas for future
Developing research, managing
enrollment and increasing the number and diversity of faculty were among
the goals representatives of the University asked a UH System strategic
planning committee to consider when preparing a 10-year "blueprint" for
System growth.

war' leads to a rash of viruses
With worms and e-mail viruses
circulating rapidly throughout the nation, computers today have an unparalleled
rate of infection. Although virus protection software from McAfee and Norton
was once sufficient, adding daily updates and firewalls still leaves one's
computer open for attack.
Search
committee ready to close role
After more than six months
of work, the search and screening committee for a UH provost and UH System
academic vice chancellor has located eight candidates for the job, had
two drop out of consideration and added two at the last minute. But Ted
Estess, head of the committee, said the group will meet Tuesday to bring
its role in the search to a close.
