OPINION
Pledge
not vital to our future
When "under God" fell under
the scrutiny of the Supreme Court last week, I braced myself. Neither for
Armageddon -- I am fairly confident that the survival of the universe does
not hinge upon these two little words -- nor, surprisingly, for the demoralization
of America's youth.
Forced
equality isn't the solution
Three county commissioners
in Benton County, Ore. are satisfied with themselves. They decided last
Tuesday that the county will not issue marriage licenses to any couple
in the county, homosexual or heterosexual.
Sick
days aren't always enough
The requirements of this
world we live in have no basis in actual reality. All of us go to school.
We're expected to show up for each class on time, have the appropriate
assignments finished, have our minds sharp and focused on the lecture at
hand and, as I heard one professor, say, "Spend at least three hours of
study time outside of class, per hour spent in class."
