OPINION

Nation's future at hand
There has never been a more important period in the history of this country than right now. Throughout time there have been few systems of government that have remained intact as long as our republic. But there are people out there who would like nothing better than to bring our country crashing down like the Twin Towers on 9/11.

Californ-i-a getting better every day
There have been times when I wished an earthquake would detach California from the rest of the continental United States. I wished that this earthquake would send its moronic citizens -- people who voted in favor of Proposition 187, a piece of anti-immigration legislation, and elected Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor -- to the Pacific Ocean where they, and they alone, can watch that wretched television show, Fox's The OC.

Bush failing to own up to mistakes
Today, after months of stone walling and feet dragging, the Bush administration will allow Condoleezza Rice to testify under oath before the 9/11 commission. Supposedly, one of the factors that led to this overdue decision was a 60-year-old photograph. The photo was of William Leahy, chief of staff under Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, appearing before a congressional panel investigating the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
