UH looks to build 'mo' for C-USA meet Cougars face A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State today in doubleheader Cougar Sports Staff Going into the home stretch of their season, the Cougars are confident they have what it takes to be competitive with the top teams in the country. Unfortunately for Houston, having what it takes and doing what it takes haven't always been in harmony.
Houston is ranked No. 75 in the nation, a more prestigious honor in tennis because of the higher number of eligible teams. At times, the Cougars have seemed to play as well any team, competing with top-30 teams and even winning a few of those matches. But other times the Cougars have gone through spells where they seem somehow allergic to taking advantages of opportunities. The Cougars have only two matches remaining until the Conference USA Championship on Thursday. Both of those matches take place today at the John E. Hoff Varsity Tennis Courts. Houston faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. today, followed by a match against Sam Houston State at 5 p.m. The Cougars will rely, as they have all season, on their solid No. 1 doubles team of junior Biljana Dimovska and sophomore Miranda Foley. The team has been hot the past few weeks, allowing Houston to win the doubles point if one of the other two teams wins its match. The C-USA championships will begin Thursday in Louisville, Kent.
