Dean
backs new schedule
Some students believe the Bauer College
of Business is taking a step back by cutting night classes for undergraduate
students in the fall, but business Dean Arthur Warga said the move is a
step toward strengthening the college's accreditation, adding that splitting
up graduates and undergraduates is a more ideal way to run the program.
Former UH sports
info director is dead at 75
Jack Scott, sports information director
at UH from 1949-60, died April 12 after a long illness, the Athletics Department
reported. Scott graduated from the University and, after leaving his post
at UH Athletics, became the first publicity director for the Houston Oilers.
He spent almost 10 years with the Oilers and then embarked on a 30-year
advertising career in Houston.
UH team takes
first in sales competition
In 2001, the Bauer College of Business'
Program for Excellence in Selling placed third in the National Collegiate
Sales Competition. In 2002, the program didn't even make the top 10. In
2003, it ranked seventh.
UH may write
off paper communication, official says
The University is planning to phase
out printed mail in favor of e-mail as its official means of correspondence
with students, a move that could save time and money. The switch is still
in the planning stage because the provost's office still has to develop
policies governing both the change to and the operation of e-mail-based
communication, said Brian McKinney, director of academic program management. |
