Former UH sports info director is dead at 75 Jack Scott was also Houston Oilers' first publicity director Cougar News Staff Jack Scott, sports information director at UH from 1949-60, died April 12 after a long illness, the Athletics Department reported. Scott graduated from the University and, after leaving his post at UH Athletics, became the first publicity director for the Houston Oilers. He spent almost 10 years with the Oilers and then embarked on a 30-year advertising career in Houston. When Scott retired, he and his wife, Sue, moved to Rockport, where he died. He was 75. Scott is survived by his wife; three daughters, Sally Scott Dillahunty, Julie Prunty and Stacy Cheeseman, all of Houston; two sons, Chad and Blair Scott, also of Houston; and six grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 704 E. Cornwall St. in Rockport.
