University will close on Friday Cougar News Staff The University will close Friday to observe a national day of mourning for former President Ronald Reagan, but orientation sessions will continue as planned and key offices on campus will remain open. UH President Jay Gogue announced Wednesday that Fridayis freshman orientation will take place; academic advisers and personnel from a number of colleges will also work Friday. The Office of Undergraduate Academic Development and the Testing Center will also remain open. Classes scheduled for Friday may be canceled at the discretion of faculty members. The announcement followed a call from Texas Gov. Rick Perry for all state employees to observe the day of mourning. The funeral will take place Friday morning in Washington, D.C.
