'Wives' tale makes
comedic comeback
After career woman Joanna Eberhard
(Nicole Kidman) is unexpectedly fired from her position as top dog of a
popular television network, her husband, Walter (Matthew Broderick), decides
the best thing for his wife and kids is to pack up and recover in the cozy
suburb of Stepford, Conn. The couple from Manhattan immediately discovers
that behind the picturesque exterior of Stepford is a community of seemingly
perfect housewives and their counterparts. The Stepford Wives is
a modern-day take on the 1975 thriller based on the novel by Ira Levin,
the author of Rosemary's Baby.
Shins shine to sold-out crowd
This weekend might have brought some
top-notch music bills through Houston, but on Thursday night The Engine
Room was packed with fans ready to get a head start as the Shins played
to a sold-out crowd suitable for their musical stylings.
What's popular isn't necessarily
inferior
A few months ago, I told a friend
of mine to buy or burn a copy of a certain CD.
"No way, man," he said. "I heard a
song on the radio from that album."
"And you didn't like it?" I asked.
"No, it was a good song, but I'm just
saying it was on the radio."
'Knockouts' unable to exhibit
Rahzel's range of ability, talent
Hip-hop heads love Rahzel because
of the things he can do with his mouth, and his oral contortionism can't
hurt his chances with the ladies -- he's the same guy who beatboxed and
sang "at the same time" on "If Your Mother Only Knew" from his 1999 release,
Make
the Music 2000.
