Exhibit brings ancient
Incas to life in Houston
Hiram Bingham was a Harvard graduate
and professor at Yale who traveled to Peru in 1908 to research Simon Bolivar,
a man known for his roles in many South American revolutions. Bingham's
research led to Cusco, where he made an acquaintance who enthralled him
with stories of the "last resting place of the Incas" or the lost city
of Vilcabamba.
Harvey utilizes simple sounds
for 'Uh Huh Her'
Although most of the world was disappointed
with Liz Phair's last album, it is impossible to conceive a similar reception
to fellow indie goddess Polly Jean Harvey's latest record. She performed
on the Queens of the Stone Age's Desert Sessions CD and shot a video
for the song "Crawl Home."
'Terminal' leaves audience waiting
The Terminal is a film about
waiting -- waiting for planes, waiting for people, waiting for life. And
unfortunately for moviegoers, that theme gets hammered home a bit too effectively.
Audiences will leave the theater having waiting for something that didn't
come.
Disney's childish '80 Days' does
little for older viewers
If you're someone who believes almost
all Disney movies cater only to the elementary school crowd, than this
movie surely proves your theory. Around the World in 80 Days is
not only filled with the expected beautiful animated transitions between
scenes as characters travel from one continent to the next, but is also
full of enough clean humor to keep 5- to 12-year-olds amused.
