Weiland returns
to Houston with a legendary lineup
What an experience it was to see members
of two legendary bands come together into one awesome quintet. One week
after Velvet Revolver's debut release, Contraband, hit No. 1 on
the Billboard charts, there was an enthusiastic crowd waiting to see what
this new band had to offer during its sold-out live performance at the
Verizon Wireless Theater on Saturday night.
Planetarium lights up 'Dark Side'
once again
Remember middle school field trips
to the Museum of Natural Science? After a guided tour through galleries
of reconstructed dinosaur bones, the class was led to the Burke Baker Planetarium
to experience the universe beyond planet Earth. Seated in a reclined blue
chair and facing upward toward the dome-shaped ceiling, students were whisked
away into a realm of stars and planets only visible through a telescope.
Pop charts in hands of lazy fans
Sure, there have been a few anomalies
in pop music that were actually brilliant and managed to find public approval.
Recently, we had Outkast and Modest Mouse (by the way, how did it take
so long for these Washington cats to get the acclaim they deserve?) actually
take a risk at forwarding dying musical genres, and now they are hailed
as the visionaries they are. |
