Scott rail line
could spur development
A light rail corridor connecting UH,
Texas Southern University and the Third Ward to downtown Houston and Hobby
Airport is taking shape as a part of Metro's $7.5 billion initiative to
outfit the Bayou City with a network of light rail transit lines.
UH facility will help to cut diesel
emissions
Houston Mayor Bill White on Monday
helped officially open UH's Diesel Vehicle Research and Training Facility,
which will test technologies designed to reduce emissions from the city's
fleet of 2,800 diesel vehicles.
Business college's donor is dead
at 85
Charles Theodore "Ted" Bauer, the
businessman who made the second-largest donation to UH in the school's
history, died Monday at The Methodist Hospital. He was 85.
