Cougar News Staff

Ileana V. Treviño, UH's vice president and vice chancellor for University Advancement, is leaving the University to become vice president of the Memorial Hermann Foundation.

Treviño came to the University in 1998 as executive director of the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity and was named head of University Advancement in 2002. She was responsible for fund raising, marketing, public relations, media relations and internal and external communication.

Treviño also worked with the other UH System universities to coordinate advancement activities.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working here," Treviño said in a release Monday. "This was a very difficult decision for me, but this is an incredible opportunity that I can't refuse."

The Memorial Hermann Foundation helps support the 11-hospital Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, funding equipment, supplies and medical programs. Among the projects it supports are the Hermann Hospital Trauma/ Emergency Center, Life Flight, the John S. Dunn Sr. Burn Center and The University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

Treviño's resignation will be effective Aug. 6.
