UH grad keeps astronauts
fit
Although engineering is about applying
math and science principles to practical uses, Carlos Ortiz-Longo is quick
to explain that it doesn't mean there is no room for variety and fun in
his profession ? and that makes his work out of this world. Literally.
Donations help local schoolchildren
Underprivileged elementary school
students in the Houston area will have one less thing to think about as
the new school year nears, thanks to a project coordinated in part by the
Houston Alumni Organization.
High points of a China visit
XI'AN, CHINA -- The cable-car line
is long, but it moves quickly as the people shuffle through like cattle,
looking at the sacred mountain above. The name alone evokes fear: Hua Shan
Mountain. I have heard countless horror stories of local Chinese people
having heart attacks from exertion or tumbling off the cliff face. As I
look around, I fear I may not be the only one worrying.
