Opinion
Ideologies explained by quotes By Ken Stocks Some question conservative views as being extremist, and label the view that America is fighting an Army of Evil as such. Yet an examination of facts and quotes by great conservative Americans, both Democrat and Republican, as well as the leaders of radical Islam, can reveal the truth. The starting point of the examination must be in understanding the mindset of the Army of Evil. In the words of Prophet Muhammad Bin-'Abdallah: "I have been sent with the sword between my hands to ensure that no one but Allah is worshipped, Allah who put my livelihood under the shadow of my spear and who inflicts humiliation and scorn on those who disobey my orders." While Democrats blame Bush, and Republicans point to Clinton, the truth is this war on America started long ago with the following statement from the founder of the Jihadist movement, Sayyed Qutb of Egypt, written in 1952: "The death of those who are killed for the cause of God gives more impetus to the cause, which continues to thrive on their blood." They wish to "establish a Muslim state" that "sets moral values" and "abolishes man-made laws," and to forcefully bring Islam to "all human beings, whether they be rulers or ruled, black or white, poor or rich, ignorant or learned." The current spearhead of the Army of Evil is Osama bin Laden, and he has followed those before him and issued this religious edict, or fatwa, that called for a war of evil against America: "To kill Americans and their allies, both civil and military, is an individual duty of every Muslim. Every Muslim who believes in God and hopes for reward (must) obey God's command to kill the Americans and plunder their possessions wherever he finds them and whenever he can." Prominent Democrat Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut expressed the sentiment of most conservatives on this war against the Army of Evil in this release in June 2004: "What we are fighting for in Iraq and around the world is freedom. What we are fighting against is an Islamic, terrorist, totalitarian movement which is as dire a threat to individual liberty as the fascist and communist totalitarian threats we faced and defeated were in the last century. "What we are fighting for is an expanding worldwide community of democracies. What we are fighting against is the prospect of a new evil empire, a radical Islamic caliphate which would suppress the freedom of its people and threaten the security of every other nation's citizens." The following words of President Ronald W. Reagan articulate the motives of conservatives: "What kind of people do we think we are? Free people, worthy of freedom and determined not only to remain so but to help others gain their freedom as well." Sen. Lieberman expressed a conservative opinion on the need to come to a successful outcome in this war on evil: "The outcome of the battle in Iraq will have ramifications that extend far beyond that country's borders. If democracy does not prevail in Iraq, it would embolden the terrorists and vindicate Osama bin Laden's offensive allegation that ‘we have seen in the last decade the decline of the American government and the weakness of the American soldier.'" Democratic Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia echoed the feelings of most conservatives when he commented on the two groups of opinion concerning the war: "(There are) the ones who want to argue and assess and appease, and the ones who want to carry this fight to our enemies and kill them before they kill us. And, in case you haven't figured it out, I proudly belong to the latter." Former Senator and Republican vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp explained: "When Adolf Hitler said in Mein Kampf that he intended to exterminate the Jews, the world did not listen. We had better listen to Osama bin Laden and take his words seriously, or his Jihad will destroy us all." The Army of Evil has stated its goal to bring radical Islam to the entire world by the use of force and terror. It has already staged major attacks and killed thousands of innocent people and affected millions of lives. The Army of Evil has announced its intent to kill 3 or 4 million Americans to get its revenge against this country. Who can trust the safety of this nation to liberals who seem intent on ignoring the danger and who hope it will simply go away? Stocks, a columnist for The Daily Coguar,
