Letters to the Editor Ban has no place in Constitution To the editor: The government should not pass a Constitutional amendment banning gay marriages. The Constitution is not a perfect document. It was born in a social and political climate that demanded that it legally recognize the inferiority of women and people of color. Almost 250 years later we have transcended those discriminations, at least in terms of law. It would be disgraceful if we alter the Constitution to cater to a prejudicial set of reactionaries who are trying to defend archaic notions of what a "family" and a "marriage" should be. Gregory Peek,
