Regent post is 'a
dream come true' for Golden
On Jan. 2, Gov. Rick Perry appointed Dennis Golden
of Carthage and Lynden Rose of Houston to the UH System Board of Regents,
filling two of three vacant board positions. The Daily Cougar is profiling
both new regents; Rose's profile will appear later in the week.
Pipe work could disrupt UH traffic
A nine-month city water pipe overhaul may cause traffic
disruptions on streets surrounding the campus, but city and University
planning efforts may help to calm driversi nerves.
Mars contest draws stellar students
Some of Houston's most talented students attempted to
answer science's oldest questions about space Saturday during the Mars
Rover Model Competition, held in the College of Architecture atrium.
Bowl payouts meager for schools
in C-USA
Louisiana State University and the University of Oklahoma
each received $13.5 million for playing in the Sugar Bowl. Kansas State
University and Oklahoma earned the Big 12 Conference $27 million in playing
in Bowl Championship Series bowls.
