Fuentes will speak at UH Cougar News Services Carlos Fuentes, the Mexican author and scholar, will deliver this yearis Farfel Distinguished Lecture on Feb. 11. Fuentes, the author of many novels, short stories and screenplays, will discuss humanismis role in the development of the modern West and how creativity contributes to humanism. Fuentes earned his law degree from the National University of Mexico and received the National Prize in Literature, Mexicois top literary award. His novels include The Old Gringo and Terra Nostra. The Farfel Lecture will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Moores Opera House. Tickets to the lecture are free and are available on a first-come, first-served
