OPINION
Voter apathy worthless
and un-American
I am not a psychic. I'm not even that good at making
educated guesses. But I can say with unflinching certainty one thing about
the future political climate in America: It's going to be intense.
Regents should be elected by the
UH community
The recent action by state legislators to deregulate
university tuition rates and to allow regents to set rates, has left the
prices we pay at the beginning of each semester to a group of people appointed
by the governor. While nobody seemed to notice it at the time, this means
our tuition, as well as taxpayer money, is under the control of a group
of people who are not accountable to anyone.
Get work done today and play tomorrow
It's 5:03 a.m. and I'm still writing. I started 13 hours
ago, but I've also managed to stop and improve my online poker skills and
watch a movie. I'm sure some will see this as a form of apathy or pure
stupidity, but this is just a simple case of procrastination. I'm sure
most procrastinators say they work better under pressure and procrastination
helps situations and increases success, but they're wrong. Procrastination
is like exercising on a treadmill. It's fun while it lasts, but when you're
done, you'll realize you've gone nowhere.
