Changes in UH refund system
scrapped
In addition to the typical hassles associated with the
first week of the semester, an estimated 4,000 students were left confused
and waiting for refund money while dealing with a change in the University's
refund system.
Texas laws against sex
toys antiquated
A woman named Joanne Webb was caught by undercover narcotics
investigators for the sale of illegal items in Texas in October 2003. The
authorities posed as potential customers and caught her running the illegal
wholesale of said items from her own home. If she is convicted, she could
be sentenced to a year in prison and a $4,000 fine. Webb had the audacity
to question what she did wrong.
UH falls to Lady Cardinals
in OT
Teams don't usually get a second chance. When a last-second
foul call was waved off, preventing Louisville from getting a chance to
beat Houston in regulation, the Lady Cougars had a chance to win in overtime.
Franti and Spearhead still
mix music with message
Michael Franti is the very definition of growth. In nearly
two decades of making music, Franti gave an emphatic "No" to militarism,
racism, and compromise, and adopted a more mellow approach after being
an anti-everything punk-rocker. He created the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy
in the early 1990s. After that group disbanded, Franti -- influenced by
the ideas of Bob Marley and Curtis Mayfield, and inspired by the likes
of Gil Scott-Heron and Scarface -- found new direction and a new band,
Spearhead.
