Letters to the editor
Distorted reporting To the editor: I note with some consternation that a Staff Editorial in The Daily Cougar (Wednesday) claimed that at one point Democrats booed the president's call for further tax cuts during his State of the Union Address. This statement is misleading and false. The Democrats did not boo Bush, but instead applauded when the president did not want applause, specifically when he stated " ... the Patriot Act will expire next year." They also showed disdain by applauding when the president noted the tax cuts would expire next year. I generally do not approve of The Daily Cougar's political stance, but I take no issue with it — up to the point when news is distorted and changed to suit ideological purposes, whether for the left or right. Jimmy Buechele,
