TOP STORIES
New degree would focus on
pollution
Members of the UH System Board of Regents will consider
a proposal to create a bachelor of science program in environmental systems
and modeling, a course of study designed to train Houstonians to deal with
the city's air quality problems, during committee meetings today.
Web vigilantes walking
a thin moral wire
As an American male and a shameless geek, I have to admit
that Batman is one of my personal heroes: he's an ordinary human who fights
crime mainly by virtue of his brains and years of training. He's not afraid
to do what he knows is right, even if it may get him in trouble. At times,
this puts him on the wrong side of the law, but that's par for the course
for a comic book superhero.
Belichick makes Pats
dynasty
Before the season began, those who passionately follow
the gridiron world might have wondered which team would pound out a couple
of championships to become the NFL's next dynasty.
He doesn't want to talk about it.
Neither does Joffrey Reynolds. Or Nick Eddy, or Hanik Milligan. Or
any of the coaches.
New deli offers low prices
on good food
Brown Bag Deli, the new sandwich shop from the owners
of the popular Barnaby's chain of local cafes, has gained quite a following
in the six months it's been in business for serving up fresh fare in a
low-key setting. Residents of nearby areas flock to this spot for a quick
lunch consisting almost exclusively of cold deli-style sandwiches and traditional
lunchtime sides. Essentially, it's fast food service is swift and your
order is ready within two minutes. But you will find no greasy hamburgers
or fries here, just the aforementioned sandwich and maybe a vegetarian
burger.
