Jet
Li's name not wasted on PS2 game
With the exception of Lord
of the Rings, licensed games have been the worst of all gaming. From
the technical failure of Enter the Matrix to every Dragon Ball,
X-Men, Superman and Batman game ever made, licensed games have been insipid
and uninspired, half-finished games with a popular character thrown in.
Gamers probably will expect no more from the Jet Li-touting Rise to
Honor.
El
Rocodo keeps Latin music spicy
When Banda El Recodo hit
the Compaq Center last fall, its scintillating performance left ravenous
fans yearning for more. Since then, Mexico's finest "banda" has released
a new album titled Por Ti, and added a new member to the lineup, percussionist
Noe Montaño. Following the success of its previous record No Me
Sé Rajar, El Recodo's most recent work has once again landed in
the Latin Billboard Top 10. Led in large part by smash hit single "Que
Te Ruegue Quien Te Quiera," the album has enjoyed runaway success with
a collection of arrangements infused with cumbia, swing jazz, ranchera
and even Irish sounds.
Local
acts replace Super Bowl music
Sammy Hagar's gone. So are
Beyoncé and boob-baring Janet. No one is really sure what happened
to Big Boi. The flock of A-list artists that descended upon Houston to
entertain Super Bowl fans may be a hard act to follow for local performers
this weekend.
Nothing
acceptable about weekend films
Filmgoers should be ashamed
of themselves if they pay to see either Barbershop 2: Back in Business
or Miracle. They should be so lucky to choke on their popcorn while
watching these piles of nothing rather than have to sit through a waste
of film.
