Search open until position is filled Announcement of sixth candidate shows continuing nature of search, Estess says By Jim Parsons
The announcement of a sixth provost candidate last week raised some questions about the provost search process and why a single candidate was announced several days after the first five. Search committee Chairman Ted Estess said the announcement of Bernadette Gray-Little, executive associate provost at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was delayed because the committee was waiting for Gray-Little to accept its invitation to an on-campus interview. But the single announcement reflects the continuing nature of the overall search for a provost and senior vice president/vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, Estess said. "While we do not anticipate that other candidates will be added (to the list), it should be noted that a search such as this one remains open until a final selection is made," he said. Three campus forums for provost candidates
remain: Charles Louis of Georgia State University on Tuesday, David Young
of Arizona State University on Feb. 12 and Gray-Little on Feb. 16. All
the forums are scheduled for 4 p.m. on their respective dates at the University
Hilton's Waldorf Room.
