2003 yearbook has arrived, editor says

Cougar News Staff

The 2003 Houstonian yearbook has arrived on campus and should be ready for delivery next week, the yearbook's editor in chief told the Student Publications Committee during its meeting Thursday.

Houstonian Editor in Chief Ashley Grubbs also said this semester's photo week, during which students can have their individual pictures made for the annual, will begin March 30. It is the last chance for graduating seniors to have their pictures taken.

Grubbs fielded questions from committee members about the number of yearbooks sold, which she said is usually between 400 and 800. She attributed that number to the fact that UH is a commuter school.

"Because of the nature of the student body here, interest in the yearbook isn't that high," Grubbs said.

In other business, Daily Cougar Editor in Chief Matt Dulin said the newspaper is still seeking sports writers and copy editors, but on the whole, this semester's staff is settling into a daily work routine.

"Every day, they find ways to amaze me," Dulin said.

The committee also voted to postpone the election of the next Houstonian editor by one month to April so it can be conducted at the same time as the election for The Daily Cougar's summer and fall editors in chief.

Those elections will be held April 8, and the next SPC meeting is scheduled for March 11.
