Coogs shine in Classic

The UH softball team concluded the Crowne Plaza Classic at the Cougar Softball Complex on Sunday by blanking Manhattan College 8-0 during the third day of play.

In her first career complete game, freshman pitcher Carla Kennimer helped with the shutout by striking out five, while scattering just four hits over five innings. On Saturday night, senior Kristen Glowacz had two home runs in a 12-2 win over Indiana University. Earlier in the evening the squad fell to nationally ranked Florida 8-2 after the team couldn't recover from the Gators' five-run first inning. 

The Cougars split Friday's games, defeating Centenary College 1-0 and being no-hit by Nebraska 2-0.
