Sports UH Roundup Much has happened in UH sports since the Daily Cougar's last run on May 2. Here's a glance at what's been going on since spring classes ended: Track and field racks up the hardware The UH men and women dominated the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were held at the Carl Lewis/Tom Tellez Track Complex May 12-14. Both the men and women took their respective team titles, and the men won the nearly unprecedented Triple Crown -- winning the C-USA cross country, indoor and outdoor titles. The only other squad to accomplish the feat was the Marquette women's team, which did it in 1996. Sophomore Carey LaCour won the 2005 C-USA Men's Athlete of the Meet and head coach Leroy Burrell won C-USA Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Tully, Farrington named All C-USA Junior outfielder Travis Tully and junior pitcher Matt Farrington were named to the All Conference-USA First Team on May 24. Tully finished the season batting .364 with four home runs, 23 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. Farrington was 8-5 in 16 starts and posted a 3.24 ERA. He struck out 60 batters in 97 1/3 innings and held opponents to a .252 batting average. Junior Kevin Roberts was named to the All C-USA Second Team. Conference USA to add instant replay to football Football fans who like to criticize the referees
should love this one. C-USA plans to experiment with a replay system based
on the model the NFL uses in the final two minutes of each half. According
to C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky, a technical adviser in the press
box will decide on a review, but the referee will still make the final
call on the field. Coaches will not be able to make a challenge, which
is a difference from the NFL.
