Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Jan. 7 and Wednesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Public intoxication: 1:25 a.m. Jan. 7, University Center -- A visitor to the Games Room was reported to have been intoxicated and have broken some beer bottles. The visitor was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Harris County Jail.

Burglary: 4:37 a.m. Jan. 7, Bayou Oaks -- A visitor advised a computer was stolen from the Bayou Oaks academic room between 4:20 and 4:35 a.m. An investigation is under way.

Theft: 3:57 p.m. Jan. 7, Hofheinz Pavilion -- A staff member reported an unknown person stole 27 rolls of toilet paper from the men's and women's rest rooms between 6 p.m. Jan. 6 and 3:15 p.m. Jan. 7.

Theft and criminal trespass: 4:39 p.m. Jan. 7, 4800 block of Calhoun Road -- A visitor reported another visitor stole two textbooks from the University Bookstore and fled on foot. The visitor was stopped at Calhoun and Entrance 1, where the complainant identified him as the thief. The man was arrested and transported to Harris County Jail. Occurred between 4:36 and 4:40 p.m.

Harassment: 3:40 p.m. Jan. 9, Cougar Place -- A student reported he had been harassed by telephone over a four-month period, with two or three hang-up calls daily. Though the student told the caller the calls were unwanted, he continued receiving them. Occurred between Sept. 1 and Jan. 8.

Burglary: 7:15 p.m. Jan. 10, Parking Lot 15G -- A student reported an unknown person(s) burglarized her parked, unsecured vehicle between noon and 1:30 p.m.

Criminal mischief: 9:20 p.m. Jan. 10, Cullen Oaks visitor parking lot -- A student reported an unknown person(s) damaged the lock on his parked, secured vehicle between 4 p.m. Dec. 14 and 9:20 p.m. Jan. 10.

Theft: 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, Hofheinz Pavilion -- An unknown person(s) stole 15 rolls of toilet paper and a 12-pack of paper towels from a storage closet between 8 p.m. Jan. 10 and 2:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Possession of marijuana: 10:47 p.m. Tuesday, Cougar Place -- A residential adviser reported the smell of marijuana coming from a room, where a small, unusable amount of the drug was found. Two students were issued referrals and released.

Theft: 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, Farish Hall -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole his debit card from his unattended, unsecured wallet outside Farish Hall between 2 p.m. Jan. 10 and 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
