A mammoth mission: Fifth-graders from Bales Intermediate
School in Friendswood (from left) Laura-Kate Dilles, Sarah Martin, Amanda
McKee and Maddy Landon watch their model, the Mars Mammoth, during the
Mars Rover Model Competition at the University Center on Saturday. The
contest, organized by the World Space Congress, brought together primary
and middle school students from more than 25 Houston-area schools to display
their models of vehicles that would carry out specific scientific missions
on the Red Planet.

The Cougar swimming and diving squad
traveled west to San Antonio to face the University of Incarnate Word where
they defeated the Cardinals 73-62 Friday, improving their record to 5-7.
