Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Jan. 21 and Jan. 24. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Theft: 2:44 p.m. Jan. 21, Philip Guthrie Hoffman Hall fifth floor -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended, unsecured backpack and its contents between 1:45 and 2 p.m.

Driving while intoxicated: 3:01 a.m. Jan. 23, 4000 block of Elgin Avenue -- A visitor was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was transported to Harris County jail after being stopped for running red lights at Cullen Boulevard. and Scott Street.

Duty upon striking an unattended vehicle: 10:57 p.m. Jan. 23, Parking Lot 16B -- A student reported an unknown vehicle struck her parked, secured vehicle and the unknown driver did not leave the information required by law. Occurred between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m.

Driving while license suspended: 12:38 p.m. Jan. 24, 4100 block of Wheeler Avenue -- A visitor was stopped for a traffic violation and was found to have a revoked driver's license. The visitor was arrested and transported to Harris County Jail.

Theft: 1:50 p.m. Jan. 24, Cambridge Oaks -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her secured, unattended bicycle from a rack at Cambridge Oaks. Occurred between 5 p.m. Dec. 2 and noon Jan. 10.

Possession of a criminal instrument: 4:34 p.m. Jan. 24, Parking Lot 12A -- A visitor was arrested for possession of a criminal instrument after he was found with a BB gun in his waistband. The man was observed approaching a number of people in a parking lot, though he was not seen displaying the gun. The visitor was later released pending a complaint coming in the incident.

Duty upon striking an unattended vehicle: 8:15 p.m. Jan. 24, Parking Lot 15D -- A student reported an unknown vehicle struck his vehicle, and the driver did not leave the information required by law. Occurred between 4 and 8:05 p.m.
