News Students get chance at 'Apprentice' spot NBC to audition UH alumni, graduates for reality show Thursday By Matt Cooper
UH graduate students and alumni will have the chance to be "hired" for the fourth season of The Apprentice on Thursday. University Career Services will host auditions for the NBC reality program from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. "I think this is a very exciting opportunity for UH alumni," UCS counselor Rachel Eddins said. The audition is being advertised to alumni and graduates because the show is looking for people with "work-world experience." Eddins said the show's producers are visiting Houston for the first time. The producers chose to come to UH, she said, because of the large variety of degrees the University offers. Eight thousand e-mails have been sent to UH alumni containing audition details. Assistant Vice President for Student Services David Small said he expects about 200 applicants. "I think if a person qualifies, they will get some good experience," Small said. "It will be something to tell your grandkids about." Each applicant will submit a résumé and an NBC application form, and there will be a five-minute audition with one of two casting directors. "I know we have some really great talent in the Houston area," Eddins said. "We hope to see someone from Houston on the next show." Eddins said applicants should RSVP by 1 p.m. today.
Both information and applications are available online at www.advancement.uh.edu/email/marketing/apprentice.html.
