News Service honors Moores worker By Matt Cooper
A memorial service for Paula Clare, a former business administrator at the Moores School of Music, has been set for 1 p.m. Monday at the music building. Clare died Saturday of a heart attack. She was 56. She worked for the University for 28 years, beginning as a clerk and retiring two years ago from her post as business administrator for the music school. "She was a unique individual," Pat Sayles, director of budgets and administration for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, said. Clare's friends have set up a scholarship fund in her memory to benefit women's studies. Donations to the fund may be sent to Sayles. Checks should be made payable to the University, Sayles said. For more information on the fund and making donations, e-mail Sayles at psayles@uh.edu. Clare would love the idea of a scholarship fund in her memory, said Carol Berr, a business administrator at the Bauer College of Business. "Paula hated people who celebrated ignorance," Berr said. "She was my friend." Clare is survived by several family members including
her husband, Thomas, an office administrator in the English Department.
