News Campus Crime Report The following is a partial report of campus crime between Jan. 27 and Thursday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600. Theft: 8:30 a.m. Jan. 27, Melcher Hall third floor -- A visitor reported an unknown person(s) stole his unattended, unsecured lunch container -- which contained jewelry, a camera and tools -- between 10 and 11 a.m. Jan. 26. Theft: 11 a.m. Jan. 27, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library first floor -- Four visitors reported an unknown person(s) stole unattended, secured construction equipment between 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and 6:50 a.m. Jan. 27. Theft: 2:53 p.m. Jan. 28, Technology I first floor -- A staff member reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended, unsecured wallet between 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and 12:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Theft: 3:30 p.m. Jan. 28, Technology computer lab -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole his unattended, unsecured cellular telephone between 10:30 and 10:35 a.m. Theft: 4:05 p.m. Jan. 28, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center men's locker room -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole property from his unattended, secured locker between noon Jan. 22 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25. Possession of drug paraphernalia: 10:47 p.m. Jan. 29, South Tower second floor -- A student was found with drug paraphernalia after consenting to a voluntary search of his room on a report of a drug transaction taking place there. Driving while intoxicated: 2:53 a.m. Jan. 30, 4100 block of Wheeler Avenue -- A visitor was arrested and transported to Harris County Jail for driving while intoxicated after she was stopped for disregarding a no passing zone on Wheeler. Criminal trespass: 8 a.m. Monday, Entrance 18 -- An officer observed a visitor matching the description of a suspect in several thefts. After confirming that the visitor was the suspect, the visitor was arrested and transported to Harris County Jail. Theft: 1:15 p.m. Monday, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library fourth floor -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole his unattended, unsecured backpack between 12:15 and 12:20 p.m. Burglary: 7:50 p.m. Monday, Parking Lot 16B -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole the in-dash stereo from his parked, secured vehicle between 3:30 and 7:45 p.m. Credit card abuse: 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, University Center -- A student reported she lost her debit card at the UC and an unknown person(s) used it without her authorization. Occurred between 2 p.m. Dec. 8 and midnight Dec. 10. Warrant: 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oberholtzer Hall -- A visitor was reported for panhandling and was found to have warrants from the Humble Police Department. The visitor was taken into custody and released to Humble police officers. Criminal mischief: 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, Parking Lot 16B -- A staff member reported an unknown person(s) used an unknown object to release the air from two of her vehicle's tires between 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. Failure to stop and give information: 2:42 p.m. Wednesday, University Drive -- A student reported an individual struck the vehicle she was driving, and the driver of the striking vehicle did not stop and give information. An investigation is under way. Theft: 2:58 p.m. Wednesday, Entrance 19F construction trailer site -- A contractor reported an unknown person(s) stole five unattended, unsecured aluminum sun shades between 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Wednesday. Theft: 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library first floor -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended, unsecured cellular telephone between 11:10 and 11:16 p.m. Theft: 12:02 p.m. Thursday, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library first floor -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended, unsecured backpack and its contents between 11:40 and 11:41 a.m. Theft: 2:05 p.m. Thursday, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library fifth floor -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended, unsecured textbook between 12:05 and 12:08 p.m. Credit card abuse: 10:02 p.m. Thursday, University
Center -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her digital
camera and credit card from Harlon's and made charges on the credit card
without her consent. Occurred between 6 and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
