News Few students trading in parking permits Students have until Thursday to take advantage of opportunity By Jeri Martinez
Though the deadline for students to trade their parking permits for less expensive permits is quickly approaching, only a few dozen students have made the change. Students affected by parking lot construction have until Thursday to trade their standard permits for Economy or Economy Plus permits. A prorated portion of the cost difference will be refunded with the trade, Director of Parking and Transportation Bob Browand said. The exchange program is designed to help students displaced by construction of a parking garage in part of Parking Lot 1A, which began during the winter break. "The closest economy lots that are closest to Parking Lot 1A are Parking Lot 4A, which is on the corner of Calhoun Road and Wheeler Street, and Parking Lot 20C across from the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center," Browand said. As of Thursday, Browand said 34 students had traded their parking permits. Anyone who still wants to do so may make the exchange before 5 p.n. Thursday in the Parking and Transportation office, Room 1, Ezekiel W. Cullen Building. For more information, call (713) 743-1097.
