The Cougars open their season today at 3:30 p.m. against Baylor at the Minute Maid Park College Classic.

Former Cougars Nick Torina and Pat Cauley will be broadcasting Friday and Saturday's game on KLVL 1480 AM or Houston fans will have the option to listen to the game at UHCougars.com.

Sophomore pitcher Brad Lincoln will take the mound for the cougars against the Bears. Lincoln finished last season with a 3-2 record after 56.2 innings of work and a 4.29 ERA. He also had an impressive fall season at the plate and will be seen in the lineup.

After batting a .374 with six home runs and 31 RBIs, junior infielder Kevin Roberts will be looked upon for leadership. On the mound, he ranks second on the team after striking out 67 opponents and accumulating five wins. Roberts' performance last season earned him the Greater Houston Area College Preseason Player of the Year by the Houston Athletic Committee.

Another Cougar to keep an eye out for is junior outfielder Travis Tully, who was selected to the 2005 Conference USA All-Preseason Team. Last season, he batted a .308 and had the Cougar's fourth-longest hitting streak in school history with 21 games.
