Houston traveled to Hattiesburg, Miss., over the weekend where they defeated Southern Miss 75-53 on Saturday night, making it the second time this year the Cougars plucked the Golden Eagles from the sky.

UH never trailed in the game that saw senior guard Andre Owens score 15 points in the first half. Owens, who scored seven points in Wednesday's loss to Charlotte, came back with a vengeance and entered Saturday's game averaging 17.2 points per game and finished with 20 against the Golden Eagles. In the first 20 minutes of play, he doubled Wednesday's numbers.

Senior guard Andre Owens led the Cougars with a solid 20 points in Saturday's 75-53 win over Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss., making it the third road victory this season.
Junior forward Ramon Dyer and sophomore guard Lanny Smith also had solid contributions with 17 and 16 points respectively.

The first half saw the Cougars leading 45-31 where they were never seriously challenged for the lead. At the start of the second half, Houston went on a 17-5 run including scoring 11 unanswered points.

Houston shot 49 percent for the night compared to Southern Miss' 34 percent. Houston also scored 19 points after forcing 18 Golden Eagle turnovers.

The Cougar win makes it the third road victory of the season. Houston now stands with a 15-10 overall record and 6-5 in conference play.

The team will next host conference foes South Florida on Tuesday before taking on Texas Christian on Saturday.
