Sports Cougars topple trio of Texas opponents Jordan Overturf
The UH tennis team had a Texas showdown over the weekend as they faced off against Texas Tech, Texas State and Prarie View A&M at home. "Our competition has been tough these first few weeks," UH head tennis coach John Severance said. "(Texas) Tech is one of those teams that is going to be ranked at the end of the year, so to come off a tough 4-3 loss and have a good win is something to build upon." The Cougars had a rough start Saturday against Tech as senior Biljana Dimovska and junior Yolandi Terblanche fought for a 9-8 victory in the No. 1 spot for doubles. The point for doubles was secured by junior Kami Miller and senior Diana Martin in their 8-5 win in the No. 3 spot.

"There is no such thing as easy (win)," Dimovska said. "Everything has to come from within; the pressure is always on and you have to react to it, but in the end it comes down to who wants it more." Dimovska continues her undefeated winning streak for the 2005 season in singles at 7-0 with an impressive 4-1 record for doubles. Miller had a perfect weekend with a victory at the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-1 as her first time in the slot for the season. The team will play host to Louisiana Tech on Friday
