Several spots still open on SGA ballot

By Tina Marie Macias
Senior Staff Writer

Today is the last day to file for candidacy in the Student Government Association's spring general election.

As of Monday, 22 applications had been filed and approved, Election Commissioner Glory Ngwolo said. No one had signed up to run for Senate seats in education, engineering, hotel and restaurant management, honors, law, optometry and pharmacy. There is also no one signed up to run for one liberal arts and social science seat and one at-large seat, Ngwolo said.

Though anyone can sign up as an independent candidate, they must be affiliated with UH 4 U or Student Voice to run under a party.

"If you're running under a party, you have to have the head of the party's consent," Ngwolo said.

Applications may be downloaded from www.studentelection.uh.edu or picked up in the Campus Activities office in the University Center Underground. They must be returned to the SGA office, Room 57, UC Underground, by 5 p.m. today.
