Showcase features trio of indie acts

by ENRIQUE DOMINGUEZ
The Daily Cougar

Punk rockers of the dance variety will be starting the weekend early when a trio of eclectic indie acts hits The Engine Room tonight.

Electric Six, a band that somehow manages to mesh dance tracks with heavy Motorhead-like vocals, is headlining the tour to promote its latest release, Senor Smoke, but the real show should come from the two stellar openers, She Wants Revenge and Rock Kills Kid.

The Ian Curtis-loving duo that makes up She Wants Revenge has enough one-night stand stories under its collective belt to fill a full series of naughty novels, but the group instead opted to produce one of the most salacious albums to ever exist this side of the hip-hop realm.

The band's sexy style borrows from the naughty S&M banter of Depeche Mode's "Master and Servant," and should make for a set that'll have the bodies slinking around the dance floor.

Los Angeles-based band Rock Kills Kid will kick off the live rock acts with its synthesizer-oriented alt-rock set. Those who have worn out their copy of The Killers' Hot Fuss by now may want to check out these guys.

Tonight's show will have a varied palette of different artists that will be sure to satisfy anyone who forks up the $15 ticket price at the door.

Make sure to come out early and catch local act DJ Cee Plus and the House of Bad Knives spin records that range from hip-hop to disco house. Doors open at 8 p.m.
